Prof.Drackley is working in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He joined the University of Illinois in 1989 after receiving a Ph.D. in nutritional physiology from Iowa State University. For more than 30 years, Professor Drackley has been engaged in the research and promotion of dairy cattle nutrition, with a focus on dry milk, perinatal dairy cattle nutrition metabolism, and calf nutrition management. Other research interests include energy, lipid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, and amino acid nutrition.
Prof.Drackley has published over 180 academic articles in prestigious journals and co-authored nine academic monographs. Currently, he is a member of the NRC 2001 and 2021 NASEM Committees involved in the preparation of nutritional requirements for dairy cattle. In 2017, Professor Drackley was named one of the industry's 100 outstanding authors by the American Journal of Dairy Science. He has previously received several awards from the Dairy Association of America and the University of Illinois, including the Outstanding Research Achievement Award, the Outstanding Teaching Award, and the Outstanding Contribution Scholar Award.In addition, Prof. Drackley is widely involved in the global dairy and feed industries, actively promoting the transformation and application of scientific research results and contributing to the development of the dairy industry around the world. Drackley received the Dairy Association of America's Dairy Nutrition Promotion Award in 2007.
